Ken Msemwa is the contracting builder that Travel for Change is working with to design and build "Lukelo Lodge." His family could not afford to send their children to secondary school, so Ken decided to learn a trade. Although he never received any form of professional training, he has become a skilled builder in the Njombe region. Through his work, he has been able to successfully raise his family and send each of his children to school.
In his words, "Travel for Change is a great idea! As the contractor, I will make it my goal to employ local builders in the Njombe community that are in need of additional income. Also, I will stress that their earnings will be put toward educating and caring for their children.
Ramanus Mlowe inherited a large amount of land from his parents, however, he is able to farm only a small portion of it. The rest he offered to sell to Travel for Change as the future site of Lukelo Lodge.
Even the small purchase of two acres of land that Travel for Change has made thus far has increased the family's income substantially.
Our future purchases will continue to improve the Mlowe family's standard of living.
