Located in the town of Njombe, Lukelo Lodge will present a unique opportunity for international travelers to experience Tanzanian life through hands-on, interactive activities such as cooking, crafts, market trips, hiking excursions and more, all while making a positive contribution to the local community.

Lukelo Lodge will be owned, designed and developed by members of the Njombe community.  Profits from the lodge will be invested in development projects that benefit the surrounding area.

The physical design of the lodge will center on sustainability.  All construction materials will be bought locally.  Building will be consistent with the area's traditional architecture. Mud bricks will be used in construction and lumber will be sustainably harvested on-site. We will also implement rainwater harvesting and storage systems, renewable energy sources and organic farming techniques.

Travel for Change
Travel for Change is currently in the process of raising funds for Lukelo Lodge.  Please visit our Support this Cause page to purchase a bracelet or make a donation.  Travel for Change and the Njombe community greatly appreciate your support!

While we are currently raising funds to build Lukelo Lodge, our future plans include working with the communities of Lugwadu, Tanzania; Lamu, Kenya; Mbale, Uganda; and other communities throughout the developing world that can benefit from community-owned ecotourism.
